General Surgery Locum Tenens Western Colorado (Near Grand Junction) Position Overview We are seeking a board-certified General Surgeon for locum tenens coverage at a 49-bed hospital located in Western Colorado, near Grand Junction. Clinical ResponsibilitiesDaily patient rounding and 24-hour call coverage(on-call from a hospital-owned apartment)Surgical consults for emergency medicine physiciansPerform general surgical procedures, including endoscopies and colonoscopiesTypical cases:Falls from standing, motor vehicle accidents, hunting/gunshot wounds (rare), agricultural-related injuries (horse/cow accidents), sports injuries, gallbladder and appendix injuriesNo office visits or scheduled surgeriesNo vascular, bariatric, thoracic surgeries, or major burns(major burns are transferred to a burn center)No head bleeds, stroke patients, or spinal injuries(these are not managed at this facility)Surgical case volume:Approximately 189 per monthScope volume:Approximately 100 per monthHospital & Team DetailsLevel IV Trauma Center(ATLS certification required)EMR:MeditechFacility:49 beds, 12 ED treatment rooms, 4 operating rooms, 6-bed ICU, 6 Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum beds, 1 c-section suite in the OB unit24/7 Hospitalist program:Surgical patients are monitored overnight by an internist.
