Job Description

The Information was founded in late 2013 with a simple idea: write deeply reported articles about the technology industry that you won't find elsewhere. Since then, we've moved markets, gotten the early scoop on billions of dollars of acquisitions, and told you what's happening inside companies like Apple, Meta and Google. As a subscription-only publication, we aim high and take on challenging stories and adhere to the highest of journalistic standards. We've attracted hundreds of thousands of active readers who look to us for breaking news stories and impactful features, and we continue to invest aggressively in our team.

The Information is open applications for our Summer 2024 Reporting Intern. This is an ideal opportunity for a college or graduate student who plans to become a full-time business, tech or financial reporter. You will spend the summer reporting and writing stories, supported by our team. This is a paid position, based in San Francisco or New York.

Candidates must be able to generate ideas, develop sources on a beat and have some experience in reporting for a college newspaper or other news outlet. They should be interested in breaking news, reading financial statements, quickly getting to speed on a tech sector or company and honing their reporting skills, particularly on the phone. To support our mission of writing deeply reported, exclusive news, our editorial team provides training and one-on-one coaching to help reporters develop top-rate beat reporting skills.

Reporters typically publish a range of articles for our website and email subscribers, from earnings briefs to features, interviews and newsletters. We are a collegial newsroom, which means interns have the opportunity to collaborate with highly experienced reporters and write about a variety of companies and topics, from social media to venture capital to e-commerce and advertising.

We strongly encourage people from traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, particularly people of color. We are committed to diversity and to building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and ages.

If you are interested in applying, please send a resume, clips and cover letter that tells us about the articles you have included in your application. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. We will start considering applicants for most of the next summer's positions in September. Start date to be determined upon acceptance.
