Title : Small Engine Mechanic

Supervisor : Fleet Manager

Department : Equipment/Trucking

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt/Hourly

Summary/Objective

As a Small Engine Mechanic, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of fractional-horsepower gasoline engines used in various landscaping and construction equipment such as lawnmowers, garden tractors, and similar machines. You will utilize your expertise in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance of our equipment.

Essential Functions

• Diagnose engine malfunctions and determine the root cause of the problem.
• Dismantle engines using hand tools to access and examine parts for defects.
• Repair or replace defective engine parts such as rings, bearings, valves, and pistons.
• Clean and adjust carburetors, magnets, and other engine components for optimal performance.
• Test repaired engines by starting them and listening for unusual sounds or performance issues.
• Perform routine maintenance on engines to ensure longevity and efficiency.
• Keep accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts inventory.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working on engines.
• Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot complex engine issues.
• Perform other reasonably related duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Guam Driver’s License.
• 2-5 years of experience with small engine repair.
• Job related certifications preferred.
• Ability to utilize various hand tools.
• Skilled in the use of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment.
• Ability to read manuals and schematics.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a shop and field environment. This role routinely is exposed to heat, humidity, and light to moderate rain and wind.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

No travel is expected for this position.
