What You'll Do:
Initiate Prior Authorizations: Assist in initiating new prior authorization requests to providers.
Identify Correct Forms: Identify the correct prior authorization form required for each patient's insurance provider.
Coordinate with Medical Offices: Coordinate with prescribers and medical offices to ensure all applicable information is accurately translated onto prior authorization forms.
Follow Up on Requests: Proactively follow up with medical offices to check the status of prior authorization requests.
Communicate Effectively: Communicate the status of prior authorizations to both patients and providers.
Handle Appeals: Coordinate with medical offices to handle appeals of denied prior authorizations.
Answer Internal Questions: Respond to internal questions from other departments regarding prior authorization requests.
What You'll Need:
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
Experience: Customer service or inbound call center experience is required. 1+ year of experience working with prior authorizations or insurance verification in a pharmacy setting is preferred. Knowledge of pharmacy benefits and pharmacy claims is a plus.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Technical Skills: Strong technical aptitude, analytical ability, attention to detail, good judgment, and a strong operational focus are necessary.
Patient Focus: A passion for providing top-notch patient care is a must.
Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with peers in a team effort and cross-functionally.
Flexibility: Must be flexible to work shifts ranging from 8 AM to 8 PM.
