Museum Assistant-Education/Archives Overview
Work Saturday’s, 1pm – 5pm; Flexible Hours M-F; 30-40hrs/week
Additional shifts may be working with artifacts, preparing exhibits, assisting with planning events or fundraisers and setting up for rentals or events
Request days off at least two weeks in advance

Greet every guest that walks through the door
Maintain a friendly interaction with all guests
Sell admissions, memberships and gift shop products
Keep front lobby clean and presentable
Essential Functions
· Assist with preparation of rentals, special events, and fundraisers
· Working the front desk when volunteers and students aren’t available
· Supervising rental groups or tours
· Manage a volunteer program that provides volunteers for working the front desk, special events and rentals, archiving artifacts, cleaning the facility, etc.
· Plan, develop, market, and deliver educational programs in order to expand learning opportunities for visitors
· Coordinates educational programs, events, classes, camps and workshops that support exhibitions
· Collaborate with the schools and various community groups to bring education programs to people both inside the museum and out in the community
· Maintain records and reports for all education programs and activities
· Any other tasks or projects assigned by the Executive Director
Required Qualifications
· Excellent written and oral communication skills; comfortable with public speaking
· Innovative, creative thinker who gets the job done
· Collaborative and team-oriented, yet with the ability to work independently
· Have a passion for and knowledge of the community and the Museum’s mission
· Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
· Ability to operate audiovisual equipment and technologies for programs
· Experience with Microsoft Office and ability to use the Museum’s administrative software
· Must be able to work evening and weekend events as needed
· Strong knowledge of social media and other marketing avenues
Physical Requirements
· Ability to work a full-time schedule, which may regularly include evenings, weekends and
some holidays.
· Ability to communicate and interact verbally, both in person and over the phone.
· Ability to use personal computers and operate general office equipment (e.g. copier).
· Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
· Exerting up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible
amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
· Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.
· Ability to travel to and from job location.
