Job Title: Lab AssistantJob Description
We are seeking a motivated Lab Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will coordinate with the team on daily projects, assemble walls, floors, and tiles for testing, and run various tests to evaluate product durability against elements like wind, earthquakes, fire, and sound. You will also work with a hydraulic press to measure nail pulling force and more. The ideal candidate will have experience or the ability to quickly learn to write reports, read blueprints, and perform computer tasks.
Responsibilities
Assist Technologists with tasks such as putting up drywall and building sections of rooms for sound and fire tests.
Paint walls, finish walls, and tile floors.
Utilize carpentry skills for various construction tasks.
Move 50 lb bags and install testing equipment such as thermocouples.
Perform basic lab skills including making mixes, weighing powders/formulas.
Sweep and clean the general lab area.
Essential Skills
High School Diploma; a degree is nice but not required.
1-2 years of carpentry experience/framing OR a scientific degree.
Ability to learn lab skills and an interest in laboratory work.
Proficiency in common Microsoft Word and basic Excel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree is a plus but not required.
Experience in construction or a related field is advantageous.
Ability to train on all testing procedures and report writing guidelines.
Work Environment
This position operates Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The work environment is a large, dirty area where candidates will build and finish walls, paint, and perform other construction tasks. While some time will be spent in the lab, it is not a clean lab, and candidates must be comfortable working around cement powders and paints, lifting up to 50-60 lbs, and wearing jeans.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
