As Head of Major Gifts , the successful candidate will be responsible for leading strategic development and implementation of HA’s major gifts fundraising program. This role will also oversee the corporate partnership portfolio, fostering strong relationships with key donors and corporate entities to secure financial and in-kind support for the organization’s mission. This position will report directly to the Global Director of Fundraising.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership : Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for major gifts fundraising, targeting high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations, aligned with the overall fundraising goals of Human Appeal.
Major Gifts Program : Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high-level donors and prospects to secure significant financial contributions. Build and maintain a pipeline of major gift prospects and ensure regular donor engagement.
Corporate Partnerships : Maintain and expand existing relationships. Develop customized corporate giving programs, sponsorship opportunities, and cause-related marketing campaigns.
Donor Stewardship : Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with high-net-worth donors, ensuring they are informed, appreciated, and engaged in the impact of their contributions.
Collaboration & Reporting : Work closely with the Head of Global Fundraising and other key leadership to ensure alignment of fundraising efforts and the achievement of financial targets. Provide regular reports on major gifts and corporate partnerships performance.
Event & Campaign Management : Oversee high-profile events and campaigns designed to engage major donors and corporate partners, ensuring they are executed flawlessly and achieve fundraising goals.
Financial Management : Monitor and track progress towards fundraising targets, ensuring that all major gift and corporate partnership commitments are met. Provide accurate budget forecasting and financial reporting.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED EDUCATION/EXPERTISE:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a focus on major gifts, corporate partnerships, and high-level donor relations. Proven track record of managing large-scale corporate partnerships.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/ETC:
Leadership : Demonstrated experience in leading teams, managing staff, and fostering a high-performance culture. Ability to inspire and mentor fundraising professionals.
Relationship Building : Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, corporate partners, and internal teams.
Strategic Thinking : Strong strategic planning skills, with a deep understanding of donor motivations and trends in major gifts and corporate giving.
Fundraising Expertise : Knowledge of best practices in major gifts fundraising, corporate partnerships, and stewardship, as well as an understanding of donor engagement strategies across different giving levels.
Analytical & Reporting Skills : Ability to analyze data, track progress, and report on fundraising metrics to senior leadership. Proficiency in CRM systems, Salesforce in particular.
Personal Qualities : Passion for Human Appeal’s mission, high level of integrity, results-oriented, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand and walk.
Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twelve (12) pounds and/or exert up to twelve (12) pounds of force.
