Are you interested in joining a fun-loving, hardworking community of food and beverage enthusiasts? An up-and-coming European-style bakery café in the heart of Falls Church City is seeking an energetic and entrepreneurial Head Baker. All of our bakery products are lovingly made from scratch and baked in-house daily. We use the highest quality ingredients and transform them into baked art. The right candidate will use traditional baking techniques to produce exceptional breads and pastries for our guests. 

Duties will include:

• Artisan bread production and day-to-day operations.
• Ensuring product is produced at the highest quality.
• Lead the baking team and keep staff organized and motivated. 
• Working with levains, starters and biga to create perfect artisan loaves.
• Reading, measuring, and executing recipes to include conversion capabilities.
• Scaling, mixing, portioning, shaping, proofing, and baking-off multiple artisan bread doughs while ensuring consistency and maintaining company standards.
• Skillfully operating commercial ovens, mixers and other equipment.
• Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen station and work area.
• Managing time effectively.
• Tracking inventory.
• Performing all other job-related duties as required.

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of professional artisan bread baking experience.
• Quick learner with ability to read and follow recipes and Chef’s directions precisely, and take feedback well.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
• Ability to work on your feet for a full shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrate good math and counting skills.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral form.
