Garden Center Premium Sales Associate Position located in Kent, CT. This is a seasonal position, from March through the holiday season. Pay rate: $19 - $22/hour We are seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented Retail Sales Associate for our Garden Center. The Garden Center is the retail face for our entire company and plays a pivotal role in cross promotion and lead generation. In this position, you will be responsible for providing excellent service and assistance to customers, helping them find the perfect plants, gardening supplies, and outdoor dcor to meet their needs. As a Retail Sales Associate, you will play a crucial part in achieving sales goals and creating a positive shopping experience for our customers.
Responsibilities: - Greet and welcome customers as they enter the Garden Center
- Assist customers in finding and selecting the appropriate plants, gardening supplies, and outdoor dcor based on their specific requirements
- Provide expert advice and guidance on plant care, landscaping techniques, and garden design
- Assist in the development of approaches that ensure every customer is made aware of the full spectrum of services we offer; Property Maintenance, Landscape Design, Irrigation
- Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, arranging displays and restocking products as needed
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale system
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by actively listening to their needs and offering personalized recommendations
- Handle customer inquiries and concerns, in a professional and timely manner, striving to resolve issues to the customer's satisfaction
- Collaborate with team members to meet and exceed sales targets - Mentor less experienced staff and help them reach their maximum sales potential.
- Work with team to create outdoor shop displays and garden vignette designs, annual containers, and impulse sales items
- Assist in establishing a database of customers and clients, pertinent information, how they found us, referrals and feedback etc. to be used in advertising campaigns
- Stay up to date with product knowledge and industry trends to provide accurate information to customers
Qualifications: - Previous experience in retail sales, preferably in a garden center or a similar environment
- Passion for horticulture, gardening, and outdoor living
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service
- Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet
- Basic knowledge of plants, their care requirements, and common gardening techniques
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items, such as bags of soil or plants, as required
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed
