Entry-Level Substation Engineer
Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers is seeking an Entry-Level Substation Engineer to work in its Power Delivery Substation Department in Billings, Montana.
Responsibilities

The ideal applicant will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with POWER's mission statement and culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving the department's goals, maintain POWER's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork and meet the needs of our clients.
  • Perform the detailed design of low to extra high voltage substations including, but not limited to:
    • One-line diagrams
    • Schematics
    • Wiring diagrams
    • SCADA
    • Communications
    • Station physical layouts
    • Sections/Elevations
    • Cable and conduit plans and details
    • Ground grid design and details
    • Foundation plans and details
    • Structural plans and details
    • Control enclosure design and details
    • Lightning protection plans
    • Yard lighting plans
    • Bills of Materials
    • Site visits
  • Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients
  • Shall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs
  • Occasional travel
Required Education/Experience
  • A BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering),BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology), BSME (BS Mechanical Engineering), or related engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Good understanding of engineering fundamentals and willingness to learn industry specific knowledge
  • The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
  • Candidate must be willing and able to work effectively and efficiently in a remote work environment when required
  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
  • Preferably an Electrical Engineering degree with a power option from an accredited university
  • At least three months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basis.
  • Minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design
  • Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
