Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set-up, maintain and operate machine shop equipment, machine tools, including our jig boring machine, manual mill, lathe and surface grinder.
• Produce quality components to Engineering drawings and sketches.
• Work to acceptable production and quality standards.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies, quality procedures and job specific work instructions.
• Follow written and verbal instructions from Lead Hand and Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Knowledge of standard Machine Shop practices.
• Able to read mechanical blueprints and use standard measuring tools (i.e. vernier or dial calipers, micrometer, height gauge and bore gauges).

Experience:

• 3 years Machine shop experience.
• Haas CNC machine as asset

Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge:

• Capable of safely operating all Machine Shop tools and equipment including cranes and tow motor.
• Able to complete process checks & inspection for quality and accuracy based upon engineering specifications.
• Able to effectively communicate to Lead Hands and Supervisors on problems relating to production, scrap, tooling, and equipment.
• Capable of setting up, identifying, and replacing cutting tools.
• Capable of troubleshooting process and tooling problems including communication of root cause findings.
• Assist with tool studies, process development and product or process improvements.
