The University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology, is hiring for a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (without tenure due to source of funding, which is typical of ranked faculty appointments within the department) to serve as a Clinical Psychologist with a research focus on Indigenous Pain Management. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Anticipated start date is April 1, 2025, but other dates may be considered.

As a member of the Division of Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology, the successful candidate will participate in clinical, research, and teaching activities and will be expected to fulfill requirements for advancement along the Clinician-Scientist pathway of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine. Responsibilities will include research with a focus on adaptation of pain management programs for indigenous populations and implementation of programs to those in need, as well as clinical work in the outpatient clinic at UWMC-Montlake or Harborview Medical Center providing outpatient treatment to manage behavioral health issues including mental health diagnoses (e.g., depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder), health conditions (e.g., pain, cognition), engagement in medical treatment (e.g., motivation, behavioral change) and providing psychoeducation related to diagnosis/treatment impacts on health and wellbeing. The successful candidate will have opportunity to collaborate with existing research teams, as well as to develop their own research portfolio. The successful candidate also will participate in the training of Rehabilitation Psychology Fellows and Residents.

COMPENSATION

The base salary range for this position will be $8,800 - $ 11,657 per month ($105,600 - $139,884 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position may include any of the following: incentive through UW Physicians (UWP), moving allowance, relocation incentive.

  • The department has four clinical divisions: General Physiatry, Sports and Spine Physiatry, Pediatric Rehabilitation, and Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology. Faculty provide clinical services across four UW Medicine campuses: Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake, University of Washington Medical Center-Northwest, and UW Eastside Specialty Center. More than 25 of our faculty are based at Seattle Children's Hospital and the Veteran's Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, which are UW Medicine-affiliated organizations. The Sports and Spine division provides care at seven clinics throughout the UW Medicine system.

  • have a PhD, PsyD, or foreign equivalent from an APA-accredited clinical psychology graduate school program
  • be licensed or license eligible to practice Psychology in the State of Washington
  • have clinical and/or research expertise working with Indigenous individuals with chronic pain
