Primary Responsibilities

  • Plans and delivers highly effective instruction aligned to national and state content standards.
  • Enact the Chattanooga Prep college preparatory curriculum using evidence-based instructional practices tailored to students’ needs.
  • Ensure all students are meeting TNReady academic growth goals. 
  • Develop a Data-Driven Mindset
  • Engage in continuous and sustained reflection on teaching practices and leadership behaviors, and adapt methods as needed to achieve school goals and performance objectives.
  • Develop strong and sustained relationships with parents and members of the community by creating opportunities for involvement in students’ learning and development.
  • Plan and collaborate with Chattanooga Prep teachers and colleagues to reach shared goals and objectives.
  • Foster a motivating, supportive, learning-centered culture of excellence in a well-structured and managed classroom.
  • Be innovative. Create exciting and engaging, inquiry-oriented learning activities
  • Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure every student succeeds.
  • Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings, including laboratories
  • Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of Lab equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to campus- wide initiatives while developing students’ character and sense of community in the classroom
  • Help shape and develop a school wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.
  • Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs
  • Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school wide meetings and functions.
  • Engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development
  • Additional responsibilities may include: after-school tutoring which is based on the needs of our Prepsters.
  • Works with urgency and purpose to drive student outcomes

  • Seeks and responds well to feedback, which is shared often and freely across all levels of the school community.


Characteristics and Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Must have a current secondary grades certification in chemistry through the State of Tennessee.
  • A self-starter interested in working in a fast-paced, startup environment that requires flexibility.
  • A high level of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • An unwavering commitment to high academic achievement and expectations of all students.
  • A capacity to motivate and lead in order to yield the highest academic performance possible from all students.
  • A team-oriented approach and the ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to give constructive feedback to facilitate student growth and academic achievement.
  • Openness to receiving feedback on issues that will facilitate the growth and achievement of both students and faculty.
  • Experience in working with grade students in urban environments.
  • Evidence of advancing student achievement on state assessments required if the candidate has prior teaching experience. If the candidate does not have prior teaching experience, evidence of achieving ambitious goals required.
