ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Hiring Range: $29.80 - $36.05 per hour
PLEASE NOTE: This role is part-time at 20 hours per week and is fully remote. The regular work schedule is expected to be 4 hours per day, Monday-Friday, with working hours falling between 9:00AM and 5:00PM eastern time. The Corporate Paralegal will be responsible for providing legal, transactional, and research support to Performant’s Legal and Compliance Department. The role will work in an environment with significant independence and will be expected to exercise sound judgment and ethical decision-making.
Job Responsibilities:
Serves as contracts administrator, managing, tracking, and performing audits of legal documents in collaboration with cross-organization stakeholders.
Assists in drafting of contract amendments, renewals, and terminations, and reviews contracts to ensure any contractual deviations from standards receive the proper approvals from concerned key stakeholders.
Performs legal research as directed by senior staff to support the organization’s legal and compliance efforts.
Maintains Performant’s Legal inbox and communications.
Assists in the creation, maintenance, and enforcement of Performant’s Legal and Compliance policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as required and assigned by Legal and Compliance staff.
Develops and maintains strategic relationships with internal stakeholders, including the Finance, Information Security, and Human Resources teams.
Ability to maintain a consistent schedule and availability to stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed:
Experience using Microsoft Office applications and online legal research tools required.
Experience with legal business management and operations software, such as HighQ, is preferred, as is SharePoint and DocuSign knowledge or experience.
Strong legal and regulatory research skills with a focus on health law.
Proficiency in legal terminology and familiarity with legal department matters.
Strong communication, organizational, and reasoning skills with a demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Maintains strict confidentiality to sensitive information.
Required and Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; College degree preferred.
Experience working as a Paralegal is required; Minimum of three (3) years of corporate in-house experience preferred; law firm experience also considered.
Paralegal Certificate preferred.
Healthcare industry experience preferred, with payor-side experience a plus.
