HFI PROJECT - Bilingual Dietary Recall Interviewer TEMPORARY/CASUAL EMPLOYEE THE PROJECT Healthy dietary intake can play an important role in protecting against obesity and chronic disease in the U.S. Access to healthy food is particularly important for Latinx communities as an opportunity to lower some of the highest rates of chronic disease and disease risk nationwide. Understanding factors related to improving healthy nutrition and developing culturally-appropriate population-level interventions are critical to improve health. Yet, health research is often limited by lack of measurement tools that are specific, appropriate, and valid for all populations. While many factors influence the ability to improve healthy nutrition, food consumed at home accounts for half of all food expenditures among US adults, and 74% of food expenditures among SNAP zarticipants. However, few valid home food environment assessment tools exist and none have been validated with large, Spanish-speaking or English-speaking populations with low literacy (i.e., limited understanding/use of the written form of one's native language). The purpose of this study is to develop a valid and reliable tool to assess the home food environment among Latinx populations, address utility with low-literacy populations and use cutting-edge app-based technology. DIETARY INTERVIEWER/DATA COLLECTOR DESCRIPTION The temporary/casual position of dietary interviewer will be responsible for collecting 24-hour dietary recall interviews with English- and Spanish-speaking research participants in the Food at Home study. They will conduct two dietary intake interviews by phone with each participant for which they are assigned. They will also be in charge of cleaning and quality control of the dietary data, reporting progress and collaborating with the study team to complete data collection. DUTIES WILL INCLUDE: Data collection (50%) Conduct dietary recalls in Spanish or English using NDS-R data collection software. Contribute to protocol revisions related to conducting dietary interviews. Assist participants with questions during the recall interview. Data management (30%) Clean dietary recall data following study protocols. Resolve any missing foods with the Nutrition Coordinating Center. Perform quality control on dietary recall interview data. This includes reviewing data and reports, making recommendations for changes, meeting with other dietary recall interviewers to resolve any questions, and verifying that corrections were made. Clean, edit and enter participation information and recall data into a REDCap electronic database and perform quality assurance to check the accuracy of the data. Data Analysis and Dissemination (10%) Prepare reports and summaries of the data that are collected. Share reports with study team. Other duties (10%) Complete all required IRB and study specific trainings. Attend staff and team project meetings in person or virtually as scheduled. Assist with language transcriptions and translations as needed. Other duties may also be assigned given project needs and the applicant's interests and expertise.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: BA/BS or a combination work experience to equal four years. Flexibility in scheduling (e.g., willingness to work evenings, days and weekends). Coordinate with study team to complete recall data collection in alignment with home visits. Organized, committed to completing tasks fully and on time, and display professional skills in interprofessional interactions. Trained and certified in NDS-R dietary recall software and procedures. Experience collecting dietary intake data using NDS-R software. Fluent in English and Spanish. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nutrition, psychology, health education, or related health or social science field data collection experience as part of a research study. Experience conducting interviews with research participants using standard protocols. Experience collecting research data.
