Job Description
Position Function: Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Principal Giving, the position's primary focus is to develop and execute short and long-range strategies that identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects capable of making major gifts to Mississippi State Athletics. This position will closely collaborate with Athletics Development team members and other staff members from across the department to ensure good communication and synergy of operations leading to maximum results. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative, committed to a culture of excellence, demonstrate advanced fundraising competencies, and help sustain MSU Athletics' fundraising success and growth through their leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assist in implementation of programs for fund-raising for Mississippi State Athletics, to generate private contributions in support of the efforts of its student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.
2. Ensure compliance with NCAA rules and regulations regarding outside interest groups, to include informing alumni and "booster" groups about applicable rules that could affect the operation of the intercollegiate athletics program.
3. Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual prospects in coordination with faculty, staff, and volunteers through the proper clearance process.
4. Manage an active portfolio of 250-300 prospects and oversee fundraising in assigned areas.
5. Maintain substantive contact reports
6. Coordinate special fundraising projects as assigned by the Associate AD for Principal Giving, the Deputy AD or the AD. (i.e. facility enhancement projects, foreign trips, etc.)
7. Assist with the coordination/planning of the MSU Major Giving society.
8. Serve as the fundraising contact for assigned sports.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Principal Giving and Team Lead.
10. Directly reports to the Associate AD of Principal Giving.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Relations or related field with 3 years of experience in related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree with direct experience in fund-raising or advancement in a higher education setting, preferably in educational fund-raising.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with university officials, faculty, prominent alumni and friends of Business, i.e., multiple and varied constituencies.
3. Basic computer skills.
4. Ability to meet significant travel requirements of position.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort 1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
2. Frequent external imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one's control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
3. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
