Youth Employment Program Manager

 

Organization Description:

Alternative Schools Network is a dynamic non-profit which supports underserved and jobless youth and young adults in Chicago with successful education, employment, and support services.

 

Program Description:

The Year-Round and Youth Employment Programs in the school year provides employment and training programs to Chicago youth aged 16-24, exposing them to public and private sector industries, and providing job placement, financial capability building, and training to help them gain self-efficacy and 21st century skills for success in the current and future economy.

This position reports directly to the Alternative Schools Network Youth Employment Program Director.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

Program Management

  • Work with ASN member schools and community-based organizations; review and monitor all aspects of the ASN Youth Employment program in participating schools and community-based organizations (CBOs)
  • Visit schools and CBO site coordinators regularly and collect documentation, feedback, and assess program successes and challenges
  • Communicate with Directors/Principals, Site Coordinators, and youth regarding youth progress and challenges
  • Coordinate transportation and materials support provided to participants, including budgeting, purchasing, distribution coordination, and purchase documentation
  • Oversee the maintenance of data collection tools (databases, spreadsheets, forms, etc.) that meet the needs of all program participants and benefactors.
  • Site Coordinator orientation, development, and training
  • Oversee implementation of online financial education system and workforce readiness training system; monitor and report participant usage and progress in online training systems
  • Gathering, analyzing, and inputting data; generating reports; preparing and processing a variety of documents and records.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong data entry and keyboarding skills. Proficiency in office software systems and data management applications.
  • Ability to define set & test baseline data accuracy standards, strong grasp of quality control concepts.
  • Ability to create and generate queries. The ability to analyze, interpret, and report on data generated.
  • Able to detect and identify enhancements and improvements that increase the quality and efficiency of data processing and analysis.
  • Proven abilities in multi-tasking and problem-solving. Attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Demonstrated abilities in customer/member service and in building collaborative relationships.
  • Strong concept of grant-funded programs; related demographic and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to travel independently to each school to collect and deliver documentation throughout the year.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent experience: Master's Degree - preferably in Social Work, Youth Development, Educational Leadership or Nonprofit Management.
  • Years of experience: 5+ years of experience in program administration; grant management of multi-site contracts; workforce development
  • 1-3 years’ experience in data management and quality control.
  • Solid knowledge of basic programming concepts, formulas, queries, and data structures.
  • High level of initiative and attention to detail; exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of database systems

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $62,000.00 per year
