Kansas Children's Service League is looking to hire a full-time Training Specialist in Wichita, KS. This position earns a competitive wage of up to $24 per hour and works a Monday - Friday schedule with occasional evenings and weekends.

JOB SUMMARY

The Training Specialist is responsible for developing and providing face-to-face and online/virtual trauma-informed training topics for Kansas audiences that are focused on child abuse/neglect mandated reporting and mandated supporting core and advanced training content. This position will also assist with coordinating special projects of the Prevent Child Abuse Kansas department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention & Related Training
    • Develop and provide child abuse and neglect prevention training topics for Kansas early care, education, human services and related fields professionals focused on child abuse prevention, strengthening families, and early childhood.
    • Using state law and best practice principles via Prevent Child Abuse America or other leading resources, develop, maintain and deliver statewide Child Abuse/Neglect Mandated Reporter also known as, Mandated Reporter standard/core trainings.
    • Develop new training content for advanced or emerging child abuse and neglect prevention training topics, such as but not limited to, preventing unnecessary child abuse reports; distinguishing neglect from economic or housing insecurities; and understanding racial bias in reporting.
    • Work with DCF partners to finalize content of standard and advanced trainings.
    • Arrange and maintain logistics of the standard and advanced topic community trainings, including scheduling, registrations and registration and delivery platforms.
    • Provide trainings both face-to-face and virtually for statewide audiences.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, early childhood education, or related field
  • At least one year of program-related experience in social services or related field
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, including public speaking

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in social work, early childhood education, or related field
  • Experience as a trainer in online training or distance education
  • Experience/training in adult education, early childhood education, or child development
  • Experience/training in child protective services
