Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop controls hierarchy to govern all optical, thermal, and electrical

feedback together from single photonic integrated circuit

Design, coordinate, and maintain key testing benches used to lock and

stabilize on-chip laser cavities

Develop testing specifications, calibration plans, and automation scripts

for different on-chip device designs

Lead controls and system-level testing of photonic integrated circuits

Work with cross-functional teams, consultants, and partners to ensure

system designs are cost-effective, compact, and meet performance

requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must Be US Permanent Resident or US Citizen

3+ years of hands-on testing experience using photonic controls to lock

and stabilize laser cavity to an external resonance.

Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining testing bench for

feedback control of photonic circuits

Expertise in drafting automation scripts (Python, MATLAB, LabView,

etc.) to run multiple measurement tools in single feedback system

Experience with testing and controlling response from passive photonic

devices, such as waveguides, gratings, and/or optics in an external cavity

laser (ECL)

Experience with testing and controlling response from

electrically-driven photonic devices, such as high-speed pulsed laser

diodes and/or electro-optic/thermo-optic/piezoelectric modulators

Working knowledge of laser cavity physics, photonic circuits, and

control systems theory

Experience with nonlinear optical processes, such as second-harmonic

generation, is preferred

Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE) and Root Cause Analysis is

preferred.
