Our client is seeking a skilled RF Test Engineer to join their team. As an RF Test Engineer, you will develop state-of-the-art hardware and software solutions for a modern satellite network, leveraging the latest technology and regulatory advancements. Your contributions will ensure the delivery of high-accuracy global navigation and timing services with the security and resilience needed for modern applications. Primary Responsibilities: Scope, plan, write procedures, execute, and identify equipment for RF-focused testing, including conducted and radiated RF tests. Validate payloads, characterize RF boards, conduct subsystem tests, and perform RF validation at the satellite level. Perform power level calculations and create link budgets. Participate in design reviews, providing feedback on verification and testability. Shape the testing and validation of payload development and revisions for production design. Provide input on requirements for the production bus platform, considering geometry and material impacts on PIM, multipaction, and interference. Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent. 5+ years of relevant experience. Must comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)). Located in the Bay Area to work in the lab. Desired Qualifications: Ability to create harnesses. General knowledge of spacecraft-based RF systems. Experience with standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generation, VNA, Python-based instrument control). Experience with RF board characterization. Ability to analyze/process test data and provide recommendations for improvements. Experience planning and executing conducted and radiated emissions tests. Knowledge of high-power RF transmit systems and test setups. Understanding of PIM causes, effects, and mitigations. Knowledge of multipaction causes, effects, and mitigations. Experience organizing and executing RF tests at bench level, in anechoic environments, and outdoors. Ability to put together RF test setups for communications and/or navigation systems. Strong documentation skills for test plans, proposals, and procedures. Ability to distill test requirements and metrics for test campaign development. Adherence to safety and quality standards. Resourcefulness, attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Team player with general lab handiness.
