This Senior PHP Developer position is a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting a client with a suite of Magento/Adobe e-commerce applications. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and maintaining Magento (Adobe Commerce) platforms, including custom module development, performance optimization, and integration with third-party systems. The Senior PHP Developer will design and build new e-commerce features, maintain existing codebases, and optimize MySQL databases. Candidates should possess strong application design and development skills, demonstrate technical leadership, and contribute to team growth through mentorship. Experience with Magento/Adobe Commerce is required, and familiarity with one or more PHP frameworks is a plus.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Heavy lifting for day-to-day coding of Magento / Adobe Ecommerce application(s).

• Work closely with other developers and architects to design, estimate, and implement entire applications and large features across a number of projects varying in size and complexity.

• Develop schemas, implement, maintain, and optimize databases in MySQL or other DBMS as appropriate.

• Lead code reviews for other developers.

• Champion automated tests (unit, integration, user acceptance) for our projects.

• Attend team meetings.

• Work with department manager to develop and review department standards.

• Collaborate effectively with team members from all departments.

• Learn new frameworks, technologies, etc. and educate team members on them.

Desired Qualifications:

• Strong experience writing elegant, well documented, object oriented PHP.

• Ability to migrate large code bases or something similar

• Database architecture and implementation skills with experience in MySql or a similar relational database system.

• Ability to lead development efforts on large projects and mentor other team members.

• Dependable and professional.

• Self-motivated and eager to continue learning new technologies and best practices.

• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

• Ability to work independently, but also must work well with others.

• Ability to recognize tasks that need to be completed and willingness to take responsibility for them.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment on a variety of projects.

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

• Working with OAuth + JSON Web Tokens (JWT)

• React, reading not necessarily full frontend knowledge

• Drupal

• Laravel

• AngularJS, Knockout, or another JavaScript framework

• Amazon Web Services

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This job requires routine desk and computer work. No travel is required.
