Job Summary: Facility Planning & Delivery (FP&D), part of the Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M), is responsible for the administration, planning, and management of capital projects that are critical for the development and maintenance of campus facilities. This position evaluates and meets client needs on Capital Projects through budget assessment, programming, design coordination, procurement, installation and managing Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) of new buildings, facility additions, and large-scale remodeling projects.
The person in this role will work closely with the FP&D Project Managers to support the interiors portion of renovations and new-builds as well as manage and coordinate interior remodels. On average, this position will be involved in 30 to 40 projects per year that can range in scope from $125,000 to $200+ million. All projects are constructed following UW guidelines: quality of design, economics of construction, and efficiency of operation.
This position will aid in developing scope/budget documents for the biennial capital building process and will serve as campus representative during all phases of design for major maintenance and construction projects which include instructional, research, and academic spaces.
This position works closely and in collaboration with campus divisions and departments including trades within FP&M, UW System Administration, the Division of Facilities Development & Management, and architectural/engineering consultants. The person in this role will have a high degree of independence and will promote a positive, productive, and proactive customer-oriented work environment.

Education: Required
Bachelor's Degree with major studies in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
Qualifications: - Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 7 years of experience supporting all interior phases of projects in partnership with customers, vendors, and manufacturer representatives.
- NCIDQ certification required.
- Sustainability accreditation preferred.
- Membership to professional interior design organization, such as IIDA or ASID, preferred.

Additional Information: - Project manage the renovation, tenant fit out, additions, and new construction of complex buildings within a higher education academic institution in accordance with the UW Campus Master Plan
- Knowledge or experience in the design and coordination of architecture, interiors, equipment, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology, fire protection, and LEED-associated principles
- Organize, communicate effectively, and manage the preparation, reviews, and coordination of drawing documentation including deliverables such as; specifications, schedules, pre-bid tours, shop drawings, change proposals, punch lists, and close-out procedures
- Consult on material and finish maintenance and operational cost changes in support of future projects
- Assess project and process improvements as related to policies, guidelines, and facility standards
- Ensure UW-Madison and State of Wisconsin standards have met program requirements
- Ability to interact, negotiate, analyze and problem solve effectively with faculty, staff, students, contractors, design professionals, government officials, and the public.
- Strong knowledge of FF&E sourcing (showrooms and other design resources), specifications, ordering process.
- Experience in leadership and ability to guide and mentor the design team throughout the design process to ensure accuracy as well as professional growth from day-to-day feedback
- Awareness of branding and its impact on creating a cohesive and inspiring space that reflects the overall mission of the university
- Working proficiency of MS Office: Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; and other software: Autodesk products: Autocad, Revit; and Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam.
