The Scribe accompanies attending physicians to document the patient encounter, allowing contemporaneous completion of history and physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Accurately document the patient encounter to include, but not limited to, history, physical examination, treatments, and procedures performed.
• Check for any incomplete charts at the end of the shift.
• Complete required documentation within a reasonable time frame.
• Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
• Display and promote a positive publicrelations approach to staff, physicians, patients families, and the public.
• Track and enter lab results, radiography and EKG interpretations, progress notes, procedures, and consultations into the EMR.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient data according to policies.
• Promote cohesiveness in the working environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested; the job specification may be modified or updated at any time.

Qualifications

• Required education: High School Diploma / GED. Medical or healthcare management courses.
• Required experience: Intermediate computer knowledge, interest in medicine, proficient typing, great listening skills, attention to detail.
• Preferred experience: Experience using an EMR (electronic medical record) system.
