Job Description

The Scale Operator is the first point of contact with the customer. The position requires accurately entering materials and weights into the scale system computer, observing loads entering the facility and recording load grades as needed, calculating payments and enforcing safety rules and PPE requirements with the customers. Shift: Monday- Friday 2:00pm - 10pm some Saturdays Bilingual: Spanish Responsibilities Communicate with all customers coming on site, answering questions and directing them where to dispose of the materials Accurately enters the weight and classification of all materials entering and leaving the site Ensures all customers have proper PPE Informs supervisor of all customer problems or concerns immediately Keeps scale house clean and orderly Completes all administrative tasks including daily reports, ticket filing and any other required tasks Communicates with operators via radio to provide and receive information regarding materials entering and leaving the facility Process credit card entries Perform any other duties as needed by site supervisor or manager Qualifications / Knowledge / Critical Skills Strong customer service skills are required Ability to multi-task Must be a self-starter Strong level of accountability Essential to be detailed oriented Upbeat and energized to complete tasks with a positive attitude Must work well under pressure Essential to learn and practice all safety procedures as safety is our highest value. Bilingual a plus Physical Demands / Environmental Factors While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear Occasionally required to stand and walk Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Sporadic local travel required Lakeshore Recycling Systems
