Job Summary and Qualifications

The VAD/Solid Organ Transplant Coordinator is a registered nurse who plans, coordinates and implements the care of the solid organ transplant/VAD patient as applicable in both the in-patient and out-patient settings in accordance with the nursing process.

What you will do in this role:

  • The scope of the role includes acting as liaison with the organ procurement organization and the OPTN, assessing human, financial and material resources of patients and families
  • Coordinating information flow among medical, ancillary, nursing, financial and insurance company staff
  • Representing the VAD and transplant program through involvement in hospital and community activities
  • Coordinator acts as a resource for the VAD INTERMACS data base and transplant statistical database
  • Call coverage
  • Key educator for the Transplant/VAD program
  • Community Outreach

What qualifications you will need:

  • Two years critical care experience for thoracic coordinator
  • One-year experience in management of organ failure/transplant patients preferred 
  • VAD experience preferred
  • Annual training or update from cardiologist/CV surgeon/clinical vendor
  • CCTC preferred
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Registered Nurse
  • Bachelors Degree
