This Registered Nurse (RN) position provides direct and indirect patient care in a 15-bed community hospital setting, requiring ICU training. The RN will perform comprehensive patient assessments, administer medications, develop and revise treatment plans, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team. The role necessitates strong communication skills, responsiveness to changing patient conditions, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Perform head-to-toe patient assessments and reassessments.
- Assess and manage patient pain, educating patients and families on pain management techniques.
- Revise patient care plans based on treatment response and evaluate plan effectiveness.
- Perform waived point-of-care testing, interpret results, and take appropriate action.
- Administer medications correctly, following the six rights of medication administration.
- Develop and evaluate patient teaching plans, including family members as appropriate.
- Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Provide age-appropriate care, considering the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
- Maintain patient safety and contribute to a culture of safety and quality.
- Consult with other departments for an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Communicate effectively with the nursing management team, colleagues, and physicians.
- Address psychosocial needs of patients and families, liaising with social services as needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation.
- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly.
- Coordinate and supervise patient care as needed.
- Maintain clinical competencies.
- Manage patient calls, MyChart refills, and obtain medical prior authorizations (ambulatory clinic).
- Assist surgeons with minor in-office procedures (ambulatory clinic).
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Minimum of one year of RN experience.
- ICU experience.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Completion of a Nurse Residency Program (for RNs with less than one year of experience).

- Work in a 15-bed community hospital setting.

- Three 12-hour night shifts per week (7 PM - 7 AM).
- Weekend rotation every other weekend.
