Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for managing and delivering a production schedule, which meets both the requirements of our customers and optimizes the efficiency of the manufacturing plant. The Production Scheduler is responsible for ensuring the production schedule is accurate, up to date, and achievable. This role will actively interact with Production, Raw Material Buyers, and the Production Planning Manager to meet the needs of our customers and the business. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist with on-time shipments to customer by utilizing the production schedule. Organize and optimize those products into a schedule, which optimizes the factory efficiency, as well as meeting customer delivery requirements. 
  • Ensure scheduled orders are completed to support on time delivery and support initiatives to meet site KPI’s.
  • Align with the Production Team Leads and Production Manager to manage product additions to the current schedule, as required as a result of reject material (manufacturing) or urgent customer orders.
  • Become first line of defense for maintaining the structure and order of the schedule once the schedule has been prepared and submitted to the appropriate departments.
  • Coordinate with the Materials Planner on the availability of raw materials and the Customer Service team on the availability of finished product. 
  • Communicate the production schedule to Production, Quality, Engineering, and Site Management. Ensure open communication to stakeholders and changes to the schedule.
  • Lead a weekly planning meeting where current and future weeks of production are discussed with all stakeholders and key function participants. 
  • Update and optimize the flow of products through the factory through constantly monitoring the factory performance and the position of each job and make the necessary (small) adjustments to the schedule. Ensure materials and equipment are pre-arranged for production.
  • Partner with the quality team to maintain the philosophy, quality statement, quality expectations, and procedures. 
  • Participate in the Safety Regulations by ensuring compliance in all aspects of safety with all applicable regulations (AkzoNobel and regulatory). Attend and participate in site Programs/Committees/Training as required, such as Department Safety, Plant Safety, Behavioral Safety, Housekeeping Audit Teams, ISO, Life Saving Rules or any other safety programs. 
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement efforts and continuously work towards process improvement, inventory reduction/levelling, reduced scheduling effort, increased production efficiency, accurate delivery date quotes, and providing real time information.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Production Planning Manager or Site Manager for the success of Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc.
  • Mid-level degree of autonomy. Reviews schedule with Production Planning Manager and Materials Planner.
  • Needs to review data and be a self-starter for troubleshooting and coordinating with managers. 
  • Drive efficiency by continuous improvement (i.e. combining orders for larger run sizes, reducing changeovers, working with engineering to reduce complexity, etc.)
  • Manage own workload and switch between projects from different departments.

Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing (2 – 5 years), with emphasis on raw material scheduling, customer service, and/or inventory control roles.

⦁    Strong working knowledge of effective supply chain performance including supply planning, customer service, supplier and asset management.
⦁    Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, MS Teams, and MRP experience.  CSI-Syteline experience is a plus.
⦁    Customer focus, detail oriented.
⦁    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
⦁    Good organizational and time management skills.
⦁    Must be able to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
⦁    Ability to work under pressure in a deadline + KPI driven environment.
⦁    Fluent in English

Total Compensation

The compensation package for this position will include a base salary, annual bonus, and employee benefits that are effective the first day of employment.
