Job Description

IFF is seeking a Packaging Technician in our New Century, Kansas facility. As a Packaging Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, troubleshooting, minor adjustments and general maintenance of all automated, semi-automated and manually operated packaging equipment. You will be exposed to cold and dry conditions in the winter, as well as hot conditions in the summer. The environment also consists of excessive dust and powders. As a Packaging Technician, you will be required to keep the production area clean and possibly clean vessels where half-face or full-face respirators may be required. Shift: Nights 5:45pm - 6:15am. Essential responsibilities include safe and effective operation and minor adjustments of all packaging equipment, proper handling, packaging, labeling, coding and marking of product, accurate and timely sampling of materials and communication to lab, accurate and timely documentation of your production day, maintaining a safe, healthy and clean work environment, reporting all accidents or near misses to Lead/Supervisor, supporting other production lines and assisting Spray Operators, regular on time attendance, proper and timely communication of equipment performance to Operators/Leads, effective evaluation of the quality of all packaging raw materials consumed in the operation and reporting any defects to Lead/Supervisor, and completing all product change overs efficiently and timely. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, ability to follow written and verbal instructions, ability to work independently and with a group in accordance with company safety & sanitation standards, basic computer skills (Access, Outlook and SharePoint), ability to lift up to 55 lbs, ability to work on feet most of the day, and moderate to heavy stair climbing including vertical ladders. Working conditions involve operating in a production/plant environment 95% of the time, lifting up to 55 lbs, willingness to work in hot and/or cold environments, dusty environment, and willingness/ability to wear half or full-face respirators. Major accountabilities include maintaining a safe, healthy and clean workplace, producing quality products on time in a team-oriented environment, operating with written SOP's and work instructions, cooperating and communicating with other shifts and site departments, following instructions and working independently or as part of a team, promoting an employee driven atmosphere, and promoting IFF’s Core Values.
