Job Description SummaryThe Process Engineer reports to the Plant Manager. The demand for green products has grown exponentially and the successful incumbent will help grow our plant to meet the needs of the world. The manufacturing process is based around both liquid and solid state fermentation with a high degree of automation and the incumbent will work in a variety of engineering and development roles for process improvement and optimization. This person will work with Certis Biologicals production managers as their representative to interface with the many disciplines of the project including the city and county municipalities, project design and process engineers, general contractor, subcontractors and process equipment vendors. Duties and ResponsibilitiesEfficiently operate and monitor different types of manufacturing equipment such as blenders, fermenters, large scale dryers, sieving, etc.Maintain a record of generated data and prepare reports related to assigned operations of within Butte manufacturing. Perform mass and energy balance calculations in support of operations as required for analytical review of processes.Work with engineering and production team members on pilot plant trials and scale-up within plant.Maintain and perform preventive maintenance of the pilot plant equipment and assigned manufacturing equipment as needed.Provide high level engineering expertise in the resolution and troubleshooting of pilot plant and assigned manufacturing operational problems.Generate engineering reports with Key Process Indicators for headquarters for overall process health.Look for ways to improve and promote fermentation quality in the pilot and assigned manufacturing operations.Take lead on the Butte expansion project with monthly updates, work with vendors to negotiate bids, contractors, cash flow and budgeting, permitting, etc.Excellent command of oral and written English with capabilities to write and present technical reports.Proficient in IT with excellent computer skills in engineering software and productivity software.Generate SOP and pre-campaign checklists for current and new processes and products. Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Bio Engineering or related engineering field (industrial, mechanical).Minimum of 3-5 years field experience.Project management experience desired.Technical literature in the field of microbiology, unit operation etc.Methods and techniques used in the preparation of biological products.Strong organizational and time management skills.Good communicator – able to work and collaborate with many disciplines.An ability to work in diverse teams to achieve common objectives and communicate openly and effectively.Demonstrated safety record Work Environment:50% office environment and sedentary50% walking within the production plantLifting up to 50 lbs on occasion with help
