Job Overview The Pipefitter performs rearrangement, alterations, repairs, and construction activities on steam, water, gas, oil, air and chemical piping systems and accessories.
This position is located at the Michoud Assembly Facility, LA. Work Model: On-site
Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: - Installs, assembles, repairs and maintains plumbing lines, systems and accessories.
- Determines routing and location of lines, accessories, and equipment.
- Uses blueprints, sketches and work orders and adheres to trade practices and plumbing codes.
- Makes proper connection be sweating, leading, screwing or bolting joints.
- Computes kind, size and amount of pipe connections and other materials when necessary.
- Installs and test hydraulic, compressed air, fire sprinkling, steam and other pressure systems.
- Installs and test sanitary plumbing fixtures.
- Performs functional tests to assure proper installations and system operations.
- Performs trouble shooting in major breakdowns, diagnosing trouble and taking corrective action.
- Performs all tasks incidental to the work.
Job Requirements Mandatory: - Minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Must possess the degree of familiarization which is consistent with and considered usual and normal for the complexity of the work to be performed.
- Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
- Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate certifications where such certifications are a requirement of the job.
- Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
- Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
- Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
- Must have, and maintain, a valid Real ID driver's license.
- Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.
Working Conditions: Working conditions vary with exposure to heat, fumes, cold, dirt from pipe or waste lines.
Physical Requirements: Requires some climbing and working in awkward positions. Necessitates considerable physical effort to move and position heavy materials and handle threading and cutting tools.
