Job Description

The staff physician shall provide patient care services and support the PCH mission of offering hope, healing, and the best healthcare for children and their families.

Position Duties

  1. Patient Care Services
  • Provide patient care services for which he/she is clinically privileged, including but not limited to:
  • a) Direct patient care on inpatient and outpatient basis
  • b) Subspecialty consultations and follow-up
  • c) Diagnostic and therapeutic services/procedures
  • d) Urgent/emergent care services as necessary
  • Strive for the best patient and family-centered care
  • Support hospital patient satisfaction goals and division-specific targets
  • Adhere to divisional patient safety and quality standards
  • Practice evidence-based medicine or the latest experience-based medicine
  • Divisional Responsibilities
  • Establish and pursue annual physician goals and objectives
  • Support medical education programs, including supervision and teaching of trainees and allied health professionals
  • Participate in postgraduate educational activities
  • Support research initiatives of the division
  • Contribute to the growth of the division and satellite efforts
  • Professionalism
  • Treat colleagues, staff, and patients with courtesy, dignity, and respect
  • Promote a safe and professional healthcare environment
  • Support PCH's mission, vision, and values, including family-centered care and clinical excellence
  • Other Activities
  • Support the Division Chief as a liaison to the community and public
  • Conduct teaching rounds or conferences outside PCH as appropriate
  • Represent PCH professionally within the medical and business communities
  • Possess essential communication and work skills, including after-hours availability and ability to work scheduled hours
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as requested.
