Job Title: Payroll Administrator

Location: Dallas, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time | Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Pay Range: $24.04 – $33.65 per hour (based on experience)

Overview:

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Payroll Administrator for a hybrid opportunity in Dallas, TX. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with all payroll laws and internal policies, and providing exceptional support to employees. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in payroll, thrives in a high-volume environment, and contributes to process improvements and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states and business entities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of wages, bonuses, commissions, severance, and supplemental pay.
  • Review, verify, and reconcile timesheets and timekeeping data.
  • Process payroll updates including new hires, terminations, promotions, and benefits adjustments.
  • Partner with HR and Accounting to resolve discrepancies and support accurate payroll reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll and tax laws.
  • Support tax filings, reconciliations, and reporting activities including W-2s and year-end processes.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain and secure confidential employee and payroll records.
  • Support internal and external audits with required documentation.
  • Recommend and assist with implementing process improvements in payroll operations.
  • Assist with payroll system implementations or updates including testing and data validation.
  • Perform additional payroll-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Experience using payroll software such as Netchex, Paycom, or ADP.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting M&A payroll transitions.
  • Experience with payroll system implementations and data migration.
