Next Generation Pastor Job Description - Life Gate Church

Job Summary: The Next Generation Pastor at Life Gate Church will lead and oversee the development and implementation of all ministries focused on the next generation (children, youth, young adults), fostering spiritual growth, discipleship, and community engagement, aligning with the core values and doctrinal beliefs of Life Gate Church. One big element of the job summary is to identify and train leadership teams.

Responsibilities:

• Spiritual Leadership:
  • Preach engaging and age-appropriate sermons to children, youth, and young adults during dedicated services and special events.
  • It is recommended that you preach 3 times a month on Sunday mornings to children and take one Sunday off in the main sanctuary to worship or be part of the worship team. It is also recommended that you preach 3 times a month at Youth Ministry on Wednesday nights. For Young adults ministry, it is recommended to have one activity a month and one life group a month and could be adjusted according to what you feel the group needs.
  • Provide biblical teaching and discipleship through small groups, one on one, curriculum development, and mentoring programs.
  • Lead and nurture a team of dedicated volunteers within the Next Gen ministry.
  • Integrate Next Gen ministry into the broader church community through joint events and initiatives.

• Ministry Programming:
  • Design and execute ministry plans for children, youth, and young adults, including small groups, group activities, services and special events (camps, outreaches, retreats etc).
  • Develop or purchase curriculum that aligns with the Assemblies of God doctrine and emphasizes both evangelism and spiritual growth.
  • Cultivate a vibrant worship experience tailored to the specific needs of the Next Gen population.
• Relational Ministry:
  • Build strong relationships with Next Gen members and their families, providing pastoral care, counseling, and support as needed.
  • Be willing to go to sports events, recitals, and school lunches to support kids/youth to build and cultivate relationships.
  • Partner with parents and guardians to effectively engage them in their spiritual development.
  • Foster strong connections between Next Gen leaders and their assigned groups, ensuring effective follow-up and discipleship.

• Leadership and Team Building:
  • Recruit, train, and equip a diverse team of volunteers to effectively lead ministry and outreach.
  • Develop and oversee Next Gen leadership development programs to equip future leaders.
  • Collaborate with other church leadership to integrate Next Gen ministry into the overall church vision and strategy.

• Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate records of Next Gen ministry activities, attendance, and participation.
  • Prepare budgets and manage financial resources allocated to the Next Gen ministry.
  • Communicate effectively with church leadership regarding ministry updates, needs, and initiatives.

  • Coordinate fundraisers to raise money for Next Gen funds.
  •  
  • Communicate with ministry participants through group messages or text reminding them of regular services and special activities.
  •  
  • Be willing to help the lead pastor with anything that may need to be done.
  •  
• Office Duties:
  • The expected hours for this full-time position is 40 hours a week. There may be times that this will be exceeded the weeks that we have outreaches planned or other activities in the community etc…
  •  
  • 40 hours a week will include school visits, attending school events, office hours, etc. In a normal week scenario.
  •  
  • There will be weekly church staff meetings. The main ministry staff meetings will usually be on Tuesday Mornings and will usually be followed by lunch together. We will have other staff meetings throughout the week if needed.
