Wound Care Specialists LLC (WCS) is a locally owned, industry leading physician and nurse practitioner practice group providing specialized wound care management of close to 200 post-acute and long-term care facilities across Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Our providers conduct weekly bedside consultations in skilled nursing facilities with superior clinical outcomes, exceptional healing rates, and significantly reduced wound related complications and hospitalizations.

We are seeking a full-time APRN for a Practice Manager hybrid role that allows the ability to split your week between two clinical days in the field within a couple facilities and three days in the corporate office providing support and oversight to the rest of the provider team. Our goal for our providers is to meet the facility wound care needs while having a personal work/life balance which this profession doesn’t always allow for. Under the supervision and direction of the CEO and COO, this Practice Manager role provides personal work/life balance while also supporting the team in their success!

Administrative Duties:

Medical Documentation Compliance:

  • Review provider charts on a biannual basis for billing trends.
  • Analyze and report on provider documentation trends.
  • Ensure providers are completing documentation in a timely manner.
  • Educate providers on documentation requirements and guidelines and monitor provider monthly comparative billing analysis.

Skin Substitute Program:

  • Review EMR reports for potential candidates for the program.
  • Confirm appropriate documentation requirements as per policy/guidelines to include initial visits and procedure applications.
  • Track patients in the skin substitute program through treatment completion.

MIPS Program:

  • Track and trend provider’s MIPS measures via EMR and educate providers on how to meet MIPS measures in EMR.
  • Coordinate with CEO annually for CMS final rules and changes in MIPS measures.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining policies with medical staff as necessary.

Education Duties:

  • Provide wound care educational lectures in person to nurses and staff at SNFs/LTCs.
  • Educate new hires on EMR documentation working directly with our clinical trainers.
  • Educate new hires on wound care topics including wound care staging, documentation standards, treatments, work-up, etc. Work with clinical trainers to sign off on new hire training competencies.
  • Plan and coordinate a wound care competency educational fair for wound nurses at headquarters as needed.
  • Presentation of wound topics at state Infection Control Conference.

Practice Management Duties:

  • Coordinate weekly training schedule for new hires.
  • Clinical provider advocate and liaison with Business Development staff assisting with provider scheduling, caseload management discussions, and assisting with building conflicts/issues.
  • Perform Wound Outcome Report tracking for the coordination with Business Development.
  • Quarterly clinical staff meeting coordination to reinforce our team environment and discuss clinical, workflow, and practice updates that will support the providers’ success.

Clinical Duties:

  • Maintain small personal caseload of 50-60 patient encounters within 2 full days per week.
  • Provide provider vacation coverage when needed and appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Active Nurse Practitioner license to practice and bill in the state of Connecticut required
  • Wound care certification – Active wound care certification preferred, however, company we will pay to get you certified during training if not already certified
  • Experience managing wounds in LTC/SNF setting
  • Experience with education and staff development
  • Proficiency working within EMRs
  • Ability to travel to SNFs/LTCs within CT, MA, and RI as necessary
