Position: Medical Coder
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to join our team! In this role, you will ensure the accurate and timely processing of medical claims, working closely with healthcare providers to maintain compliance with coding standards and improve reimbursement outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
Daily Coding Audits: Accurately audit and code Evaluation & Management (E&M) visits, ensuring that all necessary information is extracted from operative reports, transcriptions, and other relevant documents.
Billing Accuracy: Assign correct CPT codes, associated modifiers, and ICD-10 codes to billing documents to ensure compliance and correct billing practices.
Education & Feedback: Provide coding and billing education and feedback to healthcare providers to support ongoing improvement and compliance.
Claims Support: Research, correct, resubmit, and appeal denied claims to ensure that maximum reimbursement is achieved.
Stay Updated: Keep up with evolving payer policies, procedures, and industry standards to ensure compliance.
Accuracy: Maintain a coding accuracy rate of at least 90%.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the team.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Self-Motivated Learner: Ability to self-educate and stay up to date with industry trends and coding practices.
Skills: Proven customer service, communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
Certifications: Must hold a current certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS-P).
Experience: At least two years of medical coding experience is required. Prior experience with coding for Asthma, Allergy, or Colorectal Surgery is a plus!
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work, with occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment, requiring repetitive motions.
Inside work environment with climate-controlled conditions.
