Join our North American Legal Team as the Manager of Legal Operations and Services based in Morristown, NJ (hybrid) and be a vital part of our mission!

In this role, you'll oversee the business processes of the North American Legal Department, focusing on resource efficiency and continuous improvement. You'll play a crucial role in supporting strategic initiatives led by the General Counsel for North America and the Global Legal, Risk, and Responsibility Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion legal technology initiatives, including Matter Management, Legal Hold software, the Lonza internal Legal App, Luminance and other AI tools, along with e-signatures.
  • Manage a dedicated team of paralegals, ensuring their development and effective execution of responsibilities.
  • Oversee Corporate Disclosure Agreement (CDA) processes and corporate governance matters for all North American entities.
  • Handle internal budget forecasting, spend monitoring, and resource management.
  • Coordinate outside counsel management, including engagements, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Act as a liaison to the Finance team regarding legal-related charges.
  • Support the General Counsel and attorneys with special projects, particularly sensitive matters such as M&A.
  • Recommend and implement best practices for the Legal department's procedures and organization.
  • Facilitate staffing, onboarding, and new hire orientation.
  • Support contract database management and monitor the recording of executed contracts.
  • Maintain the Legal Intranet site, ensuring it includes templates, an electronic library, resource links, and more.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with collaborators, outside counsel, and business partners.

  • Proven analytical skills to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Office and Legal software and a willingness to learn new technologies, including AI tools.
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to align team efforts with organizational goals.
  • High discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Strong professional ethics and integrity.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10-15 years' experience in an in-house legal environment, particularly with financial budgeting, technology implementation, and corporate governance.
  • Preferred: Paralegal certification and experience with artificial intelligence tools.

The expected salary range for this position is $95,000 - $131,440, with actual compensation based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
