What would you do as a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional

As a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional at Burnham Law Firm, you will work independently within the authorized scope of Colorado LLP practice. Your role will involve coordinating directly with court personnel, opposing counsel, and involved parties to ensure seamless case management. You will conduct comprehensive legal research on statutes, case law, and regulations, while drafting, filing, and reviewing essential documents such as motions, affidavits, financial disclosures, and settlement agreements. Collaborating with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, you will also attend client meetings, court hearings, and mediation sessions as the primary legal representative when permitted. Upholding strict confidentiality and ethical standards will be paramount in your communications and handling of sensitive matters.

Additionally, you will manage administrative tasks, including timekeeping and billing, all while staying current on changes in Colorado family law to provide accurate legal guidance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work independently within the authorized scope of Colorado LLP practice, coordinating directly with court personnel, opposing counsel, and other parties involved
  • Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, case law, and regulations
  • Draft, file, and review motions, affidavits, financial disclosures, and settlement agreements
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other support staff as needed
  • Attend and participate in client meetings, court hearings, and mediation sessions as the primary legal representative, when permitted under Colorado LLP guidelines
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold the highest ethical standards in all client communications and the handling of sensitive legal matters
  • Manage administrative responsibilities such as timekeeping, billing, and case file maintenance to ensure smooth case management and alignment with firm protocols
  • Stay up to date on changes in Colorado family law, court procedures, and regulatory updates affecting LLP practice to ensure accurate legal guidance and compliance at all times

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Active Colorado LLP license in good standing (Bar License Number Required)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in family law
  • Strong understanding of Colorado family law statutes and procedures
  • Exceptional legal writing, case management, and client communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and ethically within your authorized legal scope
