Job Description

Our client, a leading organization in the insurance sector, is seeking a Insurance AI Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join their dynamic team. As an Insurance SME, you will be part of the Data Science and AI Development Department supporting innovative insurance solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, collaborative spirit, and a passion for leveraging AI to improve insurance processes, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Insurance AI Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location: Remote

Pay Range: DOE - starting wage at $75 up to $110

What's the Job?

  • Collaborate with AI, data science, and product teams to evaluate AI models used in underwriting, claims processing, risk assessment, and pricing.

  • Identify gaps, biases, and limitations in existing models and contribute domain insights for improvement.

  • Validate AI outputs against real-world insurance practices, regulatory requirements, and customer experience standards.

  • Define key metrics and success criteria to measure model performance and business relevance.

  • Support data labeling and annotation by providing insurance-specific context and expertise.

What's Needed?

  • Prior experience working at a Fortune 50 or leading US insurance companies, covering health, property and casualty (P&C), and life insurance.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from a top-tier university in Insurance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Business, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in the insurance industry, including underwriting, claims, risk modeling, or product management.

  • Strong understanding of insurance operations, policy structures, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and improve AI models.
