Position Overview: We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with Instrumentation & Control (I&C) experience to join our team at one of the Nuclear Plants in Southport, NC. The selected individual will perform design engineering work for electrical and I&C projects within the engineering organization, focusing on digital and software-related items.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop design packages, conceptual designs, and specifications for bidding purposes.
Evaluate alternatives and provide technical support during implementation.
Develop setpoints, perform calculations, and coordinate design efforts with vendors, AEs, and designers.
Conduct design package reviews.
Ensure compliance with NRC cyber security regulations for digital designs.
Develop design products related to major digital control system replacements, software evaluations, instrument component upgrades, and control circuits.
Obtain qualifications as a Modification Engineer and act independently as a Responsible Engineer for modifications.
Provide technical judgment and guidance to project teams.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent work experience.
2+ years of engineering experience in the nuclear industry.
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility (General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, Security Clearance checks, and subject to the site’s Fitness for Duty Program).
Strong oral and written communication skills within a professional environment.
Skilled in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Registration/Licensure as a Professional Engineer.
Experience in digital hardware/software modifications.
Digital/I&C engineering experience at Brunswick Nuclear Plant.
Working knowledge of digital upgrade-specific licensing requirements and current 10CFR73.54 Cyber Security Requirements.
Experience developing digital/software modification test plans.
Experience with 10CFR50.59 in designing modifications to a nuclear facility.
