JANSON is seeking an Industrial Designer/Environmental Designer for its Facilities Modernization & Workplace Transformation Group. This position is a hybrid (in office/remote) working arrangement in Atlanta, GA.

Job Summary: As a member of the Design Team, you will be responsible for translating the mission & vision of our clients into functional, aesthetically pleasing, and efficient designs which meet project requirements. Working closely with the design team and interdisciplinary project teams (graphic designers, content developers, fabrication specialists, etc.), you will play a pivotal role in creating engaging and productive work environments. Your expertise in interior design, space planning, materials selection, and detailing will be crucial in delivering exceptional workplace transformations and facilities modernization projects.

Responsibilities:

Design Concept Development:

  • Collaborate with the design team to understand the client’s vision, objectives, and functional requirements.
  • Create innovative design concepts, incorporating space planning, layout, furniture selection, materials, and finishes.
  • Develop supporting documentation and presentation materials to communicate design intent effectively.
  • Present design concepts to JANSON Design leadership and clients, incorporating feedback and revisions as needed.

Interior Design Development:

  • Develop detailed interior design drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and 3D visualizations using CAD or other design software.
  • Select and specify appropriate materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) that align with design intent, functionality, and budgetary considerations.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure design feasibility and adherence to building codes and regulations.
  • Incorporate sustainable design principles and practices, optimizing energy efficiency and environmental performance.

Design Documentation and Coordination

  • Prepare comprehensive construction documents, including detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with Logistics/Production element to ensure accurate implementation of design intent during the construction phase.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, samples, and mock-ups to ensure compliance with design specifications.

Industry Research and Innovation:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative design solutions relevant to workplace transformation and facilities modernization.
  • Conduct research on materials, products, and finishes to ensure the selection of sustainable, cost-effective, and high-quality options.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance design processes, improve efficiency, and integrate new technologies or techniques.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • Portfolio showcasing proof of concept in the environmental, museum, and/or commercial interior space.
  • Proficiency in design software, preferably SketchUp.
  • Knowledge of interior design principles, space planning, furniture selection, materials, and finishes.
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey design concepts and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to translate complex requirements into practical design solutions.
  • Creativity, innovation, and a passion for creating inspiring and functional spaces.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
