The Sterile Products Pharmacy Technician will play a prominent role in providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to our patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of the state of employment standards set forth in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), and all other applicable federal & local regulatory entities. The Sterile Products Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, working in & with all aspects of preparing compounding medication. Under the general supervision of a pharmacist, this role performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with Home Infusion department policies and procedures to provide optimal pharmaceutical care. Primary Responsibilities include preparation, storage and distribution of compounded & non compounded items; inventory control; completing compliance audits and questionnaires with patients via phone or electronic communication; performing financial transactions including insurance billing & patient collections; providing internal & external customer service; maintenance of pharmacy records; ordering, receiving, and inspecting medication and supplies; following all company & department policies and procedures; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and assume different roles & responsibilities; operating, cleaning and sanitizing equipment and compounding areas; maintaining all housekeeping standards; calibrating, using and maintaining the equipment needed in preparation of compounded items; ensuring/verifying all calculations on compounding records & master formulation records are accurate and correct; coordinating with pharmacy team members to compound preparations and execute quality assurance procedures; ensuring all compounds are prepared in accordance to the compounding records/master formula records; following documentation requirements ensuring records are complete, legible & timely; demonstrating the ability to identify and understand the variable compounding modalities and consulting with the pharmacist or quality team when questions/concerns arise; assisting with Quality Assurance activities including monitoring of production environment and testing of compounded batches; effectively communicating with patients/caregivers to assist with medication procurement; communicating/relaying information to internal/external customers; accurately labeling, packing and storing products prior to shipment to patients; performing inventory tasks to ensure proper quantities on hand of needed items. Required qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, active state certification with Board of Registration in Pharmacy in Massachusetts, 1+ years related work experience, ability to develop strong relationships with diverse groups of professionals, and experience with computer systems including web-based applications and Microsoft Office. Preferred qualifications include National Certification verified by PTCB and ExCPT, Certified Sterile Compounding Technician (CSPT), Bachelor’s Degree, knowledge of Epic, and previous experience with quality assurance. Competencies required include decision making, problem solving, independence of action, written and oral communications, knowledge, teamwork, customer service, and adaptability. Social/environmental requirements include close attention to task, consistent work routine with some judgment needed, and potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions requiring protective equipment.
