The Sr. Family Advancement Events Manager role requires an actively engaged manager with a proven history of exceptional event production, negotiation, and communication skills to oversee the delivery of Focus on the Family’s strategically significant events, which include donor-related events, summits, retreats, etc. Not only will this role be accountable for event production and execution, but will also require experiential vision, executive leadership trust, creativity, collaboration, and effective cross-departmental influence. This position ensures that the ministry’s family advancement and high-profile events are optimized by establishing and overseeing the strategic foundation and execution for Focus events from a Brand, marketing, recruitment, messaging, and constituent relationship management perspective. This position requires the individual to lead through influence, consultation, and demonstrated expertise in maximizing events to these ends.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: - Establishes and ensures execution of strategy for foundational elements of donor related events, to include alignment with the overarching ministry Brand, registration/ticketing, contracting, promotional materials, displays, signage and on-stage materials, event production and post-event relationship cultivation
- Works collaboratively with the Family Advancement Team in the development of a 3-year donor related event strategy that includes timelines and deliverables, shepherding the information through to completion within the broader integrated constituent engagement communication calendar
- Leads the planning, implementation, and collaborative execution of all production and logistics functions for Focus cruise-related events
- Supports the strategic planning and creative development of donor-related event initiatives, proactively managing all event production needs from branding, design, complementary messaging, and stage experience
- Works with the communications team to collaboratively develop and then execute effective and integrated engagement campaigns to drive maximum demand and brand awareness to external audiences for donor related events
- Leads venue/vendor selection process for donor related events, including RFP’s, contract negotiation, and execution with Procurement/Legal setting the stage for effective event delivery
- Leads post-event reviews to debrief on learnings, best practices, and future adjustments to better achieve outcomes
- Secures external consultants for events when staffing deficiencies arise in ways that ensure the lowest cost while maximizing the participant experience
- Assists the Family Advancement Reps regarding their smaller, regional events
- Creates budgets aligned with the annual planning process, managing expenditures and revenues throughout the event execution process to ensure an accurate final accounting at the conclusion of each event
- Continues to cross-train members of the broader Focus Event Team to support professional development opportunities and ensure proactive succession planning
Other Duties/Responsibilities: - Travels 15-25% domestically
- May handle direct sales and order transactions
- May meet with local bank, volunteer staff, etc. as needed

Knowledge/Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Communications, or another relevant field
- 5-7 years of relevant managerial and leadership work in executive level events, trade shows, and conference type experiences
- Proven knowledge of industry marketing operations and event management tools (Aprimo, Stova, Salesforce etc.)
- Working knowledge of Focus mission, philosophy, values, and objectives

- Excellent interpersonal, writing and presentation skills to people at all levels and responsibilities

- Competent in use of computer hardware and software; advanced ability with Microsoft Office Suite

Stewardship Requirements: - Ability to think from a P/L mindset, whether directly accountable for revenue
- Manages budgets more than $50,000
Salary Range: $76,956 to $88,398/yr
