The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty member and Assistant Director at the level of Assistant Professor in the SEHS-Doctor of Education Department.
Summary: This will be a full-time, non-tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor and Assistant Director in the School of Education and Human Services beginning January 2025. To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a doctorate in the field of Education or related field and be well-versed in the anthropology of Catholicism. Teaching experience in a K-12 setting is strongly preferred. (ABD will be considered but the degree must be completed by the time of appointment.) Candidates with professional experience in leadership will be given priority, as the appointment will be primarily working with doctoral students in leadership. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching courses related to leadership, but with a strong recognition of Catholic anthropology. It is also important to have knowledge of the standards and processes related to the Texas Education Agency, as they serve as one of the accrediting bodies to which the department personnel must adhere. This position will teach required courses, as determined by the Dean and/or Department Chair, as well as have the freedom to propose new courses that fit their expertise and interests. In addition, the successful candidate will conduct related research and provide service work such as academic advising in support of the School of Education and Human Services. As Assistant Director, the candidate will assist the Director in the daily management of the department.
