High Transit LLC assists heavy hauling companies in moving a wide variety of oversize and overweight loads. We provide specialty services for customers in the civil construction, transportation, building construction, manufacturing, Marcellus Shale, and heavy equipment industries. We are seeking an Escort Supervisor to support our High Transit team.
The
Escort Supervisor is responsible to supervise and schedule High Transit escort drivers and utilize outsourced escort drivers to meet daily demand.Work with the Permitting Team to ensure permit requirements are met for number of escorts, slow downs, police, etc.Provides adequate roster of escorts for all High SBU locations including training, evaluations, physical & certification compliance and renewals.Acts as a back up when necessary to order daily permits for both "Out of State" and APRAS [PennDot] permits.This would include determining job permitting requirements, actual ordering of permits, follow up communication with DOT's, State Police scheduling and all necessary functions to ensure shipments are on time and in compliance with all applicable regulations.
This is a 1st shift position located in
Lancaster, PA, reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the Permitting team.
Essential Job Function: - Direct supervison of 50 hourly part-time escort driver positions
- Supervise and assign escort drivers on a daily basis to meet the demands of the shipping schedule.
- Coordinate all required training and ensure an adequate roster of certified escort drivers based on criteria established by High Transit. This includes CEVO escort drivers.
- Assign escorts as needed and reviews demand to determine any outsourcing requirements. Maintain a resource list of certified escort companies.
- Interviews and selects new escorts. Performs orientation guidelines for new hires and establishes step by step sequence of training requirements working towards certification.
- Assigns escort vehicles and reports any maintenance issues to Fleet Maintenance to ensure well maintained fleet of escort trucks to minimize any potential downtime.
- Reviews and approves weekly escort expenses and time sheets for conformance to planned estimates. Monitors working hours and total hours worked for the year to conform to part-time/full-time" status.
- Reviews backlog of work with Permit Team to anticipate special escorting requirements on a State by State basis.
- Maintain continuous communication with Permit Team and various Police Departments as appropriate so problems can be solved proactively. Goal is to always minimize High Company financial exposure.
- Responsible for all scheduling of State Police or other authorities to ensure proper timing and coordination of inspections and escorting.
Secondary Job Function: - Represents High Transit in transportation related activity such as the Specialized Carriers/Riggers Association, as necessary.
- Offers cooperation and consultation to other High Industries companies when there is need for the incumbent's experience and expertise.
- Promotes a favorable image of HT with internal and external customers in all activities and associations to further the interest of HT and to promote the goodwill of other stakeholders.
- May be required to perform other duties and functions as directed by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications: - 3 to 5 years traffic/logistics work/supervisory experience within an industry that requires knowledge of specialized carriers required
- A two-year college degree is preferred but additional experience can be substituted
- Knowledge of oversize and overweight load transportation, Federal Motor Carrier regulations, OSHA safety regulations, and computer systems/procedures required
- Train with "Escort Safety Trainer" to become familiar with escort operations, training, and evaluations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
- Knowledge of State permitting requirements is preferred.
- NY State Certifications, VA Certification, Flagger Training Preferred
