Insight Global is seeking to hire an Entry Level Electrical Engineer I to support a large federal client based in Newport New VA. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 0-2 years of professional experience. Candidates with a Master's degree and/or 2+ years of experience will be eligible for the level II opening.

Targeted Compensation:

$69,000 - $71,000

Typical breakdown of duties:

• 50% Technical Writing
• 20% Research and Vendor liaison
• 10% Cross Platform Collaboration
• 10% Professional Correspondence with various customers; Government, Laboratory, Ships Force
• 5% Technician work and Troubleshooting
• <5% Design and Visual Development

Day-to-day :

• Research, develop, and test electrical systems, electrical designs, electrical controls, technical solutions, software, and procedures.
• Modify existing designs, solutions, and software
• Writing manuals for design specs
• Support current and new designs for parts, controls, and manuals
• Maintaining electrical system diagrams
• Provide technical solutions (paper products)
• Communicate with internal and external customers (government and commercial customers)
• Test products in lab to ensure work is correct
• Review submittals, drawings, and test results from vendors
• Write instruction manuals for how to use and/or install parts
• Make technical decisions on product reviews
• Make recommendations to government customers

Must Haves :

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 2 years of professional experience
• OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 0-2 years of professional experience.
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Highly motivated and self-driven
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Instrumentation
• Transformers
• Switch Boards
• Familiarity with submarine or carrier propulsion plant arrangement
• Medium Voltage Power
• Power Testing
• Protective Relays
• Power Distribution
• Power Systems
• Reactor Planning
• Technical Correspondence
• Allen Bradley PLC
• Familiarity with military technology and technical data.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and/or experience with Spice or Microcap or similar circuit modeling software desired.
• Experience in design or test to verify models.
