Job Description
This role is critical to the efficient and effective management of The American Kennel Club's email program.The Email Marketing Manager will be responsible for the creation and delivery of over one-third of the AKC's overall campaign delivery as well as providing training and support to other email team members. The person in the role must not only be well versed in all the latest email marketing best practices and have a broad technical knowledge but also be able to contribute to the strategic planning of department marketing campaigns, with the specific goals of increasing engagement and conversion of AKC Shop, Registration, and Marketplace customers.
*This is a hybrid position requiring onsite in our NYC or Raleigh, NC location. Primary Job Duties - Fully leverage our email service provider (Emarsys) to deliver on the group mission of giving subscribers the best possible email experience.
- Manage and execute against Marketing calendar and ensure alignment with business priorities, events, and internal stakeholders. Communicate and coordinate changes to the marketing calendar across departments.
- Develop, implement, and manage new and existing email campaigns, including assuring adherence to email best practices across all departments.
- Test and monitor email programs to evaluate campaign performance, client/segment engagement, increase response rates and delivery of email to targeted lists.
- Create automated workflows in our ESP to engage and retain customers and improve conversion rates and customer satisfaction. Identify opportunities to incorporate multi-channel opportunities such as SMS, CRM ads, and web channel displays into existing email campaigns.
- Act as subject matter expert when working with other business units to help guide them to the most effective and efficient execution of their campaigns
- Analyze email campaign performance based on marketing KPIs and provide recommendations for optimization to key stakeholders
- Oversee consumer database growth and health by proactively identifying any issues in the connection and transfer of data between the AKC enterprise database, Shopify, and Emarsys
- Assist with training, QA, and workflow support for other email team members.
- Monitor latest trends in email marketing and integrate them into Company's marketing plans where appropriate.
Required Skills, Specialized Knowledge, and Competency Requirements - Experience in email design, development, and deployment using major ESPs
- Solid knowledge of email best practices and CAN-SPAM laws
- Skilled in managing multiple competing requests
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams and departments
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Comfortable establishing new tools and processes
- Demonstrated ability to influence and work closely with team at all levels within the organization

The salary range for this position in New York City is $70,000 - $80,000/year; however salary offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
