Job Overview:

A successful Dog Trainer candidate must be passionate about animals and have patience to work with dogs and their individual challenges.

We are looking for a Dog Trainer to join our team, who has a solid understanding of canine behavior and training techniques. The candidate should be committed to improving the relationship between dogs and their owners. This position involves working with dogs of various breeds and temperaments, providing training that encourages good behavior and obedience. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong communication skills and have experience in customer service and sales, ensuring positive interactions with clients.

  • Familiar with job-specific terms and concepts such as training collars and how to apply them according to the training needed, training commands and leash training
  • Capable of working independently and managing time efficiently
  • Certification in dog training and Certified Master Trainers a plus

Requirements:

  • Consulting with dog owners to understand challenges and goals.
  • Maintaining consistent communication between clients and trainers during training and follow-up instructions.
  • Paying attention to detail, especially regarding subtle dog behaviors and common examples of canine communication.
  • Evaluating dogs in person to identify potential challenges.
  • Developing customized training plans for each dog.
  • Training dogs to walk on and off-leash.
  • Providing obedience training, such as teaching dogs to respond to commands.
  • Instructing pet owners on how to continue training at home.
  • Ensuring that the kennel and related areas are clean, safe, and well-organized, following protocols for sanitation and hygiene. Previous experience as a kennel technician or veterinary technician is a plus.
  • Experience working with dogs needing rehabilitation for aggression and severe behavior issues is a plus.
  • Conducting training with individual clients and in a group setting.
  • Traveling to customers homes or other locations for follow-up sessions and/or training their dogs.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Availability to work weekdays and weekends.

Job Type: Part Time to potentially Full Time - 20-30 hours to start

Pay: From $20- $23.00 per hour

Benefits: Available for employees who work 30 or more hours a week only
