University Marketing & Communications has an exciting opening for a Director of Video Production. This is a full-time, permanent position. The Director of Video Production leads University Marketing and Communications’ efforts to produce engaging, high-quality video content that supports the University’s priorities and enhances its brand. Reporting to the Executive Creative Director, this role oversees the full lifecycle of video production — from concept development to delivery — while ensuring storytelling excellence, efficient resource management, and alignment with strategic goals. The Director manages a talented team of video creators, collaborates with stakeholders across the University, and contributes to advancing equity and inclusiveness in all video projects. What You Will Do: Team Leadership (40%) Supervise and mentor a team of video content creators, fostering a positive, inclusive, and innovative work environment. Provide professional development opportunities, encourage growth, and build a collaborative team culture. Manage project and team budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure the timely delivery of projects. Establish and maintain processes and standards for video production quality and ensure alignment with the University’s brand values and storytelling goals. Build and maintain a pipeline of freelance videographers, editors, and production teams to scale resources, as needed. Creative Leadership and Strategy (35%) Partner with the Executive Creative Director and stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and success metrics. Develop creative concepts and video strategies that align with UMAC’s broader communications and marketing objectives. Oversee the production of diverse video formats, including promotional campaigns, YouTube series, event coverage, and social media content. Present creative proposals to stakeholders and guide the team in implementing feedback. Provide art direction and apply cinematography expertise to guide the aesthetic quality and visual storytelling of video projects. Establish and uphold video production standards for the University, guiding consistency in quality, style, and branding across all video projects. Outline multi-year video strategies that support branding and institutional priorities, such as enrollment growth, donor engagement, or community outreach. Explore innovative storytelling formats, including interactive media, augmented reality (AR), and 360-degree videos. Implement video optimization strategies for various platforms to maximize engagement and reach. Production and Post-Production Management (15%) Coordinate pre-production logistics, including location scouting, permits, equipment rentals, and talent release forms. Direct and manage production crews, ensuring adherence to schedules and technical specifications. Oversee post-production workflows, including editing, sound design, and final delivery, ensuring all assets meet technical and creative standards. Incorporate advanced production techniques such as drone footage, motion graphics, and live streaming for dynamic storytelling. Oversee the organization, cataloging, and maintenance of a comprehensive library of video assets to ensure accessibility and consistency for internal and external use. Ensure all video content meets ADA compliance standards, including captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions. Oversee proper use of licensed music, footage, and graphics to ensure compliance with legal standards. Other duties as assigned (10%) Contribute to cross-disciplinary initiatives and special projects within UMAC. Stay informed on emerging trends and technologies in video production to maintain the UW’s competitive edge.
