Reports To : VP of Communications & Government Affairs Location : Washington DC About Live Action Live Action’s Government Affairs Program is dedicated to shaping pro-life policies at the federal and state levels. The program works with legislators, policymakers, and coalition partners to advance legal protections for preborn children, hold abortion providers accountable, and promote policies that strengthen the American family. Role Overview The Government Affairs Director is Live Action’s leading liaison to federal elected officials, government agencies, and pro-life policy groups. This individual will develop and execute a legislative strategy, track key political developments, and ensure Live Action’s voice is effectively represented in public policy discussions. Key Responsibilities Assist with state government affairs program Track and analyze legislation, regulatory changes, and court rulings related to abortion and family policy. Develop strategic recommendations on Live Action’s policy positions and advocacy efforts. Collaborate with elected officials to advance pro-life legislative priorities. Cultivate and maintain relationships with federal and state legislators, policy staff, and government agencies. Engage with pro-life coalition partners and advocacy groups to align policy efforts. Represent Live Action in meetings with policymakers, legislative hearings, and public policy forums. Develop policy briefs, position papers, and strategic communications for lawmakers and allies. Provide policy expertise for Live Action’s public messaging and media engagement. Monitor political and legislative developments affecting the pro-life movement. Maintain accurate records of government contacts, policy initiatives, and legislative progress. Provide regular updates and analysis to Live Action leadership. Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of experience in legislative roles, issue advocacy, or government relations. Strong knowledge of U.S. legislative and regulatory processes. Experience working with elected officials, policymakers, or advocacy organizations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including policy writing. Ability to work across political and ideological lines to build coalitions. Based in Washington, D.C., with in-person meetings at least three days a week. Availability for occasional travel, night, and weekend work as needed. Maintains strong working relationships with policymakers and coalition partners. Continually seeks professional development in legislative strategy and pro-life advocacy.
