Job Summary: The Director of Accounting Services oversees the district's accounting operations, financial reporting, and grants compliance functions, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information. This role includes performing a wide range of complex accounting, technical, financial, supervisory, and administrative duties. The director provides strategic planning, coordination, and accountability for large-scale and complex projects, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, authoritative guidance, and district policies.
Annual Salary: Grade 9: $97,345.00 - $132,128.00.00 DOE
Work Day: 8 hours
Work Year: 12 months
Bargaining Unit: Non-Represented
Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with at least five (5) years of professional accounting or financial auditing experience (within the last ten years), including two (2) years in governmental accounting and three (3) years in a supervisory role.
Expertise in general ledger management, financial reporting, and compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and Governmental Accounting Standards.
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to perform complex financial analyses using integrated financial systems, including automated accounting systems in large or governmental entities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), Google Suites, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and other relevant software, with accuracy in data entry and typing.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with staff, the public, and stakeholders.
Proven organizational and leadership skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize shifting tasks, and perform accurately under pressure.
Knowledge of internal controls and federal, state, and local regulations related to school district accounting.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate integrity, and work independently while managing and mentoring staff.
